Akufo addo and npp are running family and friends government

Akufo addo and npp are running  family and friends government  Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused President Akufo-Addo of running what he calls a family and friends government.

Addressing delegates over the weekend at Akwatia in the Denkyembuor District to finalize his one-week tour of the Eastern Region ahead of the National Democratic Congress'(NDC) presidential primaries, Mr. Mahama alleged that several of President Akufo-Addo’s government appointees were either his relatives or his friends.

“The hypocrisy is frightening. Joyce Bawa is my Auntie’s child. Apart from her, I had no relative in government when I was in power; but they kept insisting I was running a family and friends government. Today, they have shown us that they are running a family and friends government. It is called shifting the goal post.”

The former President is not the first to raise concerns about Nana Addo’s appointments.

The leadership of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) also accused the President of running a “family and friends” government in the wake of his appointments of new ministers, among others.

The National Chairman of the PPP, Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond, who made this allegation months ago, took a swipe at the NPP government for its inability to form an all-inclusive government as promised during the 2016 campaign prior to the presidential and parliamentary elections.

He also indicated that, the outlined policies of government will only yield a slow pace of development in the country.

“We the PPP are increasingly surprised that the change in government from NDC to NPP seems to repeat mere changes to personalities occupying high offices and positions of trust in our land and not change in the substantial matters of reorientation.”

“How does a strictly partisan NPP local government ensure that all Ghanaians get the opportunity to participate in it?” Dr. Brew-Hammond asked.
